Public Transportation to Weetwood Hall

Not everyone coming to the reception at Weetwood Hall will have the joy of navigating the Loop Road. Whilst we appreciate that this will be a matter of great sadness for them they may also like to get to the reception without walking their way to the outskirts of the city. (For the record; it is possible, I have done it, but it would muddy up your nice clothes and leave you horribly late for the wedding breakfast.)

My suggestion to everybody in this situation is to get a taxi. They are relatively cheap and reliable and you may be able to fill it up with other people going to the reception. You may want to book a private hire car to pick you up from the Church (when you know what time we expect to finish) and can use one of these companies:

I have no idea bout Taxis in Leeds and so these are taken from the Leeds, Live it, Love it website.

If you want to take a hackney carriage the nearest ranks are on Great George Street (the same street at the Church) or on The Headrow, opposite the Town Hall. To get to the Headrow you just need to reverse the directions given in Walk this Way. and cross the road. There are other taxi ranks in this area. When you get in the taxi ask for Weetwood Hall and if you get a bemused look from the driver give them the postcode LS15 5PS. Leeds Taxis are either white with a black bonnet and hood or have full body advertising. They will always have a light on the roof.

If you are very cheap or just into buses (I'm looking at the best man on both fronts there) then you could, if you wanted, get the ample bus service. Clearly this is not an option if you have a hat the size of a dinner table but it is open to everyone else. The buses that go past Weetwood Hall are the numbers 1, 95 and 96. As these are the student lines they are very frequent. You can get them from stop J3 on Woodhouse Lane.

To get to Woodhouse Lane from the Church you need to come out of the Church, down the steps and turn left to pass the church on your left hand side. This is Great George Street and you need to follow it down to the fork. It is easier for you to take the rights hand side of the fork (which is still Great George Street) and continue on this street, past the back of the Town Hall, over two crossroads, beyond the turning your car-using compatriots had to take to turn into The Light and stopping on Woodhouse Lane. J3 is then the first stop you come to on your right hand side. The buses will be travelling away from town. You need to get off the bus at Lawswood School and cross the main road, Weetwood Hall is behind the big brick wall and you will have to walk along the drive, making sure you are not hit by passing reception-goers.

The final option is to see if anyone going to the small reception has any spaces that they would like to offer people in their cars. If people want to use the comments facility in this post, they can try to arrange lifts up to Weetwood Hall. In exchange for this a car driver may get someone used to Leeds to direct them to their car park and to the reception.

To get home/ to a hotel from the reception you will need to make sure you book a taxi or get a bus back into town. There is not a nearby taxi rank but the buses do go until very late at night. Much later than I will be awake, anyway.
